We are pleased to introduce a 6-week Emotional Eating and Body Image Group for adult women (30 and above). This group is designed for women who struggle with body dissatisfaction and the pressure to be thin as well as overeating as a way of coping with difficult emotions. Participants will take a closer look at how negative emotions contribute to the cycle of dieting and emotional overeating.
The group will use education, self-exploration, homework, and experiential exercises to help individuals:
understand their relationship with food
examine distorted beliefs that perpetuate negative body image
critique the influence of culture and the media
identify underlying issues and feelings that contribute to overeating
learn adaptive ways of coping other than using food
