Psychological Services

Each client that comes for therapy requires an individualized approach to assessment and treatment.

  • Child Therapy

Children often express themselves differently than adults. Many children respond to play and art based interventions that help them work through challenging emotional concerns. We are trained in play therapy. Therapists work closely with parents/guardians to teach them skills to use at home with their children.

  • Adolescent Therapy

Adolescents' primary developmental goals often center around identity. They may be constantly challenging, rebelling, and experimenting in an attempt to figure out "who am I?" Therapy is often a very helpful place where adolescents can explore different parts of their identity and begin thinking about what they want their lives as adults to look like. Adolescents often respond to a more direct, honest, and "down to earth" therapeutic style. We are trained to respond flexibly to the varied needs of our adolescent clients.

  • Couples/Marital Therapy

Each partner comes to their relationship with different backgrounds, experiences, and personality traits. Sometimes these differences can cause conflicts in relationships. We will help you better understand your partner's personality traits, values, and needs. Many times, couples need assistance learning how to communicate and to handle conflict without damaging the relationship further. Other couples need assistance with transitions such as marriage, parenthood, and family changes. Sometimes couples seek assistance for more serious concerns such as infidelity, co-dependency, and impending separation.

  • Adult Therapy

Some may benefit from a focused, short-term psychotherapy similar to coaching or consultation. This sort of a relationship typically occurs once weekly and may last approximately 5 sessions. Some clients return to therapy as needed.

Others benefit from a more thorough exploration of personal issues in order to truly capture and address the complexity of their presenting issues. Clients are typically seen once or twice a week (as needed). Clients are typically seen from 20 sessions up to two years.

For those seeking a deeper, more open-ended psychotherapy a longer-term approach is taken. Here, the individual is often interested in a deeper level of personal exploration. Length and course of treatment is highly individualized and is geared towards personal growth.
  • Psychological Testing

A trained doctoral level clinician is available to administer a range of psychological tests to clarify diagnoses (for example: ADHD, Schizophrenia, and Learning Disabilities), assess intelligence/cognitive functioning, examine personality traits and make treatment recommendations.
